Juli Vergoni (she/her) joined the team at Sanar Institute as Senior Wellness Specialist in January 2023
where she provides training and support for individuals, organizations and communities that have
experienced complex trauma across their life course and/or are exposed to traumatic stimuli in their
work. Prior to coming to Sanar Institute, Juli worked as a social worker in the New York Metro Area
providing clinical and case management services to survivors of all forms of human trafficking.

Over the last decade, Juli has worked to support individuals and communities impacted by interpersonal
violence. Juli’s areas of focus include relational, attachment and complex trauma, human trafficking and
exploitation, and the experiences of trauma in migration. Juli seeks to better understand the subjective
impact of trauma across an individual’s life course, and build linkages of connection and support to
prevent, and furthermore – heal, cycles of intergenerational transmission of trauma. Juli is also
passionate about bridging the intersections of micro and macro social work with emphasis on how
systems could integrate the experiences of individuals to better inform practices and policies in the
communities that they serve.

Juli is a graduate of Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service with a concentration in
Community-Based Practice and Leadership. Juli also holds an Executive Education Certificate in Non-
Profit Leadership from Fordham’s Center for Non-Profit Leaders. Prior to her direct service work, Juli
worked in non-profit fundraising and development, building engaging multidisciplinary partnerships
across the anti-trafficking field. Juli enjoys lavender lattes, finding really cool small businesses (especially
if they’re food related!), and building connection in any way possible – with herself, others and the
world around her.
